{"id":1938,"date":"2014-11-10T12:44:05","date_gmt":"2014-11-10T12:44:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/seancrowe.ie\/home\/?p=1938"},"modified":"2014-11-10T12:44:05","modified_gmt":"2014-11-10T12:44:05","slug":"vote-in-catalonia-shows-desire-for-binding-referendum-crowe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/seancrowe.ie\/home\/vote-in-catalonia-shows-desire-for-binding-referendum-crowe\/","title":{"rendered":"Vote in Catalonia shows desire for binding referendum- Crowe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sinn F\u00e9in\u2019s spokesperson on Foreign Affairs, Se\u00e1n Crowe TD, has congratulated the organisers of an independence vote in Catalonia which had a turnout of over 2 million.<\/p>\n<p>Crowe said the huge turnout showed the\u00a0growing\u00a0demand and will of the Catalan people to vote\u00a0on the future status of Catalonia, and the Spanish state needs to respect their legitimate wishes.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Se\u00e1n Crowe said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe vote in Catalonia yesterday saw a huge turnout and ultimately was a victory for democracy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Spanish Government refuses to recognise the wish of Catalans to decide their future and it continues to deny them the legal right to hold a binding referendum.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis vote was organised by over 40,000 people and over 2 million voted.
