{"id":1993,"date":"2014-12-09T15:34:05","date_gmt":"2014-12-09T15:34:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/seancrowe.ie\/home\/?p=1993"},"modified":"2014-12-09T15:34:05","modified_gmt":"2014-12-09T15:34:05","slug":"crowe-calls-on-dail-to-recognise-palestine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/seancrowe.ie\/home\/crowe-calls-on-dail-to-recognise-palestine\/","title":{"rendered":"Crowe calls on D\u00e1il to recognise Palestine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sinn F\u00e9in\u2019s spokesperson on Foreign Affairs, Se\u00e1n Crowe, has welcomed that the issue of Palestinian statehood will be debated in the D\u00e1il and everyone regardless of their party\u2019s allegiance will be given a historic opportunity\u00a0to discuss over two nights what is happening in the region.<\/p>\n<p>Crowe said that the preferred two-state solution was fast running out as a viable option and\u00a0called on all D\u00e1il Deputies to do the right thing and back his party&#8217;s motion.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Se\u00e1n Crowe said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThis motion has been moved by Sinn F\u00e9in to encourage a debate about what is actually happening to the Palestinian people under the Israeli occupation. It\u00a0gives D\u00e1il Deputies an opportunity in a real and substantial way to support measures to recognise Palestine as a State.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe non-binding motion calls on them to recognise Palestine as a State along the internationally recognised1967 borders.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPalestine declared its independence along these borders in 1988 and so far 135 countries have officially recognised the State of Palestine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Irish people already overwhelmingly recognise the State of Palestine, its long past the\u00a0time that\u00a0the D\u00e1il collectively did the\u00a0same.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>ENDS<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sinn F\u00e9in\u2019s spokesperson on Foreign Affairs, Se\u00e1n Crowe, has welcomed that the issue of Palestinian statehood will be debated in the D\u00e1il and everyone regardless of their party\u2019s allegiance will be given a historic opportunity\u00a0to discuss over two nights what is happening in the region.
