Sinn F\u00e9in\u2019s spokesperson on Foreign Affairs, Se\u00e1n Crowe TD, attended the launch of an outdoor media advertising campaign by Sadaka, an Irish support group for Palestine, urging citizens to put pressure on the Irish Government to recognise the State of Palestine.<\/p>\n
The campaign comes on the back of a Sinn F\u00e9in motion calling on the Government to recognise the State of Palestine which was unanimously passed in the D\u00e1il.<\/p>\n
Deputy Se\u00e1n Crowe said:<\/p>\n
\u201cI want to commend Sadaka on this very visible and positive campaign urging citizens to put pressure on the Irish Government to recognise the State of Palestine.<\/p>\n
\u201cOn 10 December 2014 the D\u00e1il unanimously passed a Sinn F\u00e9in motion calling on the Government to recognise the State of Palestine, and a similar motion passed through the Seanad on 22 October 2014.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Government has had 11 weeks since the motion passed and it should make moves to recognise the State of Palestine in line with the wishes of the majority of Irish people and both Houses of the Oireachtas.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Minister for Foreign Affairs, Charlie Flanagan, has recently returned from a visit to Palestine where he seen the humanitarian crisis and challenges facing the Palestinian people.<\/p>\n
\u201cTomorrow there is Parliamentary Questions with Minister Flanagan and I will again raise this issue and call on the Government to urgently recognises the State of Palestine.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
