Tallaght sample ballot shows 98% of people against EU\/IMF bailout<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n

Sinn F\u00e9in\u2019s Se\u00e1n Crowe today held a sample ballot among unemployed on the<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n

EU\/IMF bailout in<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n

Tallaght. \u00a0Councillor Crowe held the ballot to coincide with the passing<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n

of the D\u00e1il motion on the \u00a0deal today.<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n

Out of 150 members of the public who voted 148 voted against the deal<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n

while just two people said they don\u2019t know what it is about and spoiled<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n

their votes.<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n

Councillor Crowe said:<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cJudging by this sample poll the result would suggest that the EU\/IMF<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n

deal would be overwhelmingly rejected by the people if they were<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n

given an opportunity to have their say.<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cContrary to what Government TDs such as Charlie O\u2019Connor and Conor<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n

Lenihan have been saying there was and is a better way. \u00a0We need to set<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n

the<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n

Irish economy on a new trajectory that seeks to stimulate economic<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n

activity, create jobs and gives confidence to the bond markets.<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis particular EU\/IMF deal will actually bring a profit to many of the<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n

senior bondholder gamblers who contributed to our current difficulties.<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n

As it emerged last night, there will also be an additional 3% interest rate<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n

on European funds for Ireland as part of this deal.<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAn extra add on to this deal is an obligation to bail out failed banks,<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n

the continued erosion of our economic sovereignty, massive interest rates<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n

and a succession of savage budgets that will target low and middle income<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n

earners.<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThose who voted for this deal will soon have to face the consequences<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n

from<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n

the electorate in an election that cannot happen sooner.\u201d<\/sub><\/span><\/p>\n
