{"id":245,"date":"2011-03-17T19:45:12","date_gmt":"2011-03-17T19:45:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/seancrowe.ie\/home\/crowe-highlights-undocumented-irish\/"},"modified":"2011-03-17T19:45:12","modified_gmt":"2011-03-17T19:45:12","slug":"crowe-highlights-undocumented-irish","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/seancrowe.ie\/home\/crowe-highlights-undocumented-irish\/","title":{"rendered":"Crowe Highlights Undocumented Irish"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: large;\"><strong>Crowe Highlights Undocumented Irish<\/strong><\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">Speaking this afternoon in  advance of the annual St. Patrick\u2019s Day festivities, Sinn F\u00e9in\u2019s TD for  Dublin South West Sean Crowe said he was hopeful that the Obama  administration would review the US immigration policies and has called  on Taoiseach Enda Kenny to raise the issue directly with President Obama  during his visit to the US this week.<\/span> Crowe was previously part of an All Party D\u00e1il\u00a0delegation that lobbied Capital Hill, Congress and Presidential election runners<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">Se\u00e1n Crowe said:<\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">\u201cI  am hopeful that the Obama administration will review the existing  immigration policies regarding undocumented persons in the United  States.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">\u201cThis number of undocumented  includes a large number of Irish \u2013born. Like all undocumented persons of  all nationalities, their lives are uncertain, living in the shadows  with their families,\u00a0under precarious and sometimes dangerous  circumstances.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"gmail_quote\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"gmail_quote\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"gmail_quote\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">\u201cIt would  be to the huge\u00a0benefit of the US as well as the undocumented  individuals to regulate their status so that they become\u00a0even  greater\u00a0contributors to the American system.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"gmail_quote\">The Irish undocumented are no burden on the  state and\u00a0contribute economically, socially, culturally\u00a0\u00a0to the American  way of life.<\/div>\n<div class=\"gmail_quote\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"gmail_quote\">The present immigration system, if introduced  in the past,\u00a0\u00a0would have meant that\u00a0many leading\u00a0\u00a0Irish\/American and  even\u00a0former \u00a0President&#8217;s would not have been eligible for office.<\/div>\n<div class=\"gmail_quote\">The Obama administration\u00a0need to urgently  address this issue.
