Sinn F\u00e9in\u2019s Se\u00e1n Crowe TD, speaking in the D\u00e1il, called on the Government to urgently undertake an assessment of the impacts that Brexit would have on the Good Friday Agreement.<\/p>\n
Deputy Se\u00e1n Crowe said:<\/p>\n
\u201cBrexit undermines the institutional, constitutional and legal integrity and status of the Good Friday Agreement.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Good Friday Agreement political institutions, human rights guarantees, All-Ireland bodies, the constitutional and legal right of the people to exercise their right to self-determination, and a united Ireland through consent, by referendum north and south, must all be protected.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe peace process is still fragile. There are a lot of unresolved legacy issues, the Irish Language Act has not been implemented, there are continued human rights and equality concerns, and there are still problems in jails, with parading, flags, and emblems.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is an urgent need to deepen reconciliation and the healing process in order to reduce division.<\/p>\n
\u201cRepublicans have rightly embraced the challenge of reconciliation and today we launched Sinn F\u00e9in’s reconciliation document: Towards An Agreed And Reconciled Future.<\/em><\/p>\n
\u201cBrexit would have a detrimental effect on all these processes.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Irish Government must urgently undertake an assessment of the impacts that Brexit would have on the Good Friday Agreement.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
