Dublin South West TD, Se\u00e1n Crowe, has spoken out in support of his party\u2019s Microgeneration Support Scheme Bill that will be debated in the D\u00e1il today.<\/p>\n
The Sinn F\u00e9in TD said that the bill allows people to be paid for excess electricity to the grid from small scale energy sources, and helps small scale energy grow across the state, adding to the indigenous energy we produce.<\/p>\n
Deputy Se\u00e1n Crowe said:<\/p>\n
\u201cThis bill will reduce household energy costs and it broadens the renewable energy portfolio in the state.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt provides a payment to householders for small scale renewable electricity feeding the mains grid from small scale renewable energy, such as from roof top solar panels.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis state has climate change obligations in terms of emissions reductions which will not be met, and Irish households produce 60% more emissions than the EU average.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis will help aid the growth of an alternative renewable energy source to fossil fuels.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe objective of the bill was a recommendation of the citizen\u2019s assembly, and the bill is supported by Friends of the Earth, Stop Climate Chaos, An Tasice and Tr\u00f3caire.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe government should accept this bill in the D\u00e1il this week and allow households benefit and contribute to the drive to grow renewable energy in the state.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
