{"id":367,"date":"2012-02-14T11:36:52","date_gmt":"2012-02-14T11:36:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/seancrowe.ie\/home\/shots-fired-in-tallaght-last-night-lead-to-calls-for-extra-garda-resources\/"},"modified":"2012-02-14T11:36:52","modified_gmt":"2012-02-14T11:36:52","slug":"shots-fired-in-tallaght-last-night-lead-to-calls-for-extra-garda-resources","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/seancrowe.ie\/home\/shots-fired-in-tallaght-last-night-lead-to-calls-for-extra-garda-resources\/","title":{"rendered":"Shots fired in Tallaght last night lead to calls for extra garda resources"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Shots fired in Tallaght last night lead to calls for extra garda resources <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sinn F\u00e9in TD Se\u00e1n Crowe has called for extra garda resources for the Tallaght area after another shooting incident last night.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Crowe said shots appeared to have been fired at a car in the Bawnlea estate late last night.<\/p>\n<p>He said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is growing fear and tension in parts of Tallaght in the  aftermath of last week\u2019s shooting dead of a young woman.\u00a0 Last night\u2019s  shooting has heightened those tensions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany people are living in fear in the midst of this &#8216;turf war&#8217; in  case their homes be targeted or mistaken as belonging to those involved  or associated with these criminal gangs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is clear that extra garda resources are needed for the Tallaght  area. Residents want to see a more overt presence of uniformed garda\u00ed on  the beat on the streets and in the estates of Tallaght.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnly then will people begin to feel safe in their homes and communities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe garda\u00ed responded very quickly to last night\u2019s incident and I  welcome that but it highlights the extent of the growing problem.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt also highlights the need for a new approach and a strategy to  prevent more young people drifting into crime and joining these gangs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe formation of a multi-faceted approach including the community,  state agencies, the local authority, the local drugs task force and its  satellite services, youth, education, probation and welfare services to  come up with practical solutions including jobs, is the way to tackle  these problems.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Shots fired in Tallaght last night lead to calls for extra garda resources Sinn F\u00e9in TD Se\u00e1n Crowe has called for extra garda resources for the Tallaght area after another shooting incident last night.
