{"id":389,"date":"2012-04-22T13:45:14","date_gmt":"2012-04-22T13:45:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/seancrowe.ie\/home\/language-contradictions-raised-in-dail\/"},"modified":"2012-04-22T13:45:14","modified_gmt":"2012-04-22T13:45:14","slug":"language-contradictions-raised-in-dail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/seancrowe.ie\/home\/language-contradictions-raised-in-dail\/","title":{"rendered":"Language contradictions raised in D\u00e1il"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\"><span>Language contradictions raised in D\u00e1il<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\">Sinn F\u00e9in Education Spokesperson Se\u00e1n  Crowe\u00a0 raised his concerns in relation to the Irish Language and its  roll out with Minister Ruair\u00ed Quinn during the most recent  \u00a0D\u00e1il\u00a0Question Time\u00a0and said\u00a0that changes in pupil teacher ratios and  staffing schedules will greatly impact on Gaeltacht schools and  undermine the 20 year Irish Language plan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\"> Crowe also emphasised the vital  and\u00a0important role that the Gaeltacht and Gaelscoilleana\u00a0 have in  developing and ensuring the long-term viability of the Irish language.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\">Deputy Crowe said:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\">&#8220;The Minister and the Department of  Education and Skills have the lead role in delivering the 20 year plan  on the development of the Irish Language yet its budget measures would  appear to undermining and hollowing out that very plan. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\">\u201cUp until now, Gaeltacht schools had a  preferential pupil teacher ratio in recognition of the challenges of  teaching in Irish medium schools. This reflected the lack of teaching  resources available to teachers and the imminent decline of the  language. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\">\u201cIt is therefore very worrying that  gaelscoileanna are being hit doubly hard with changes in the staffing  schedules combined with the ending of the preferential pupil teacher  ratio.
