{"id":4023,"date":"2019-12-19T10:02:50","date_gmt":"2019-12-19T10:02:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/seancrowe.ie\/home\/?p=4023"},"modified":"2019-12-19T12:12:02","modified_gmt":"2019-12-19T12:12:02","slug":"housing-minister-is-delusional-on-rent-stabilisation-claims-sean-crowe-td","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/seancrowe.ie\/home\/housing-minister-is-delusional-on-rent-stabilisation-claims-sean-crowe-td\/","title":{"rendered":"Housing Minister is delusional on rent stabilisation claims \u2013 Se\u00e1n Crowe TD"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Dublin South West Sinn F\u00e9in TD, Se\u00e1n Crowe,has slammed\nMinister Murphy&#8217;s claims that the latest Residential Tenancies Board (RTB) data\non rents is evidence of &#8220;rent stabilisation&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Deputy Se\u00e1n Crowe said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>&#8220;The latest quarterly data from the RTB on rents shows that rents are up 6.6 percent in Dublin and 8 percent across the State.<\/p><p>&#8220;The average rent in Dublin is now \u20ac1,762 a month.<\/p><p>&#8220;The average rent across the rest of the State is now \u20ac1,243 per month, an increase of 8 percent.\u00a0<\/p><p>&#8220;The average rent is now over \u20ac1,000 euro in seven counties across the State.<\/p><p>&#8220;There is nothing stable about the private rented sector for most tenants and for the Minister with responsibility for the sector. To claim otherwise is delusional.<\/p><p>&#8220;Rent pressure zones are not working. Rents are too high and are continuing to rise.<\/p><p>&#8220;We need to reduce and freeze rents.
