Sinn F\u00e9in today announced that, due to the current restrictions on travel and assembly, the party for the first time will be organising an online National Easter Commemoration at 3pm on Easter Sunday.<\/p>\n
The party are also encouraging people to wear an Easter Lily and to put a tricolour in your window or garden.<\/p>\n
Sinn F\u00e9in TD for Dublin South West Se\u00e1n Crowe said:<\/p>\n
\u201cDue to the current Covid-19 pandemic and necessary restrictions on travel and assembly, and in the interests of public health and safety, Sinn F\u00e9in has postponed all of its annual 1916 commemorations and wreath laying ceremonies.<\/p>\n
\u201cInstead, at 3pm on Easter Sunday, we will be holding an online National Easter Commemoration, including music and song and an oration by Uachtar\u00e1n Shinn F\u00e9in Mary Lou McDonald.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis can be viewed on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and via the Sinn F\u00e9in website at sinnfein.ie<\/p>\n
\u201cThroughout the week, Sinn F\u00e9in will also host various video and photographic exhibitions online and we are asking people to wear an Easter Lily and put a tricolour in your window or garden.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe would encourage children and families to put Easter 1916 imagery or artwork in your windows and online, as was done for L\u00e1 Fh\u00e9ile Ph\u00e1draig.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will keep under review the possibility of holding commemorations later in the Summer or expanding our events at Bodenstown.<\/p>\n
