{"id":444,"date":"2012-07-23T09:39:47","date_gmt":"2012-07-23T09:39:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/seancrowe.ie\/home\/bill-huge-disappointment-to-tens-of-thousands-in-mortgage-distress-crowe\/"},"modified":"2012-07-23T09:39:47","modified_gmt":"2012-07-23T09:39:47","slug":"bill-huge-disappointment-to-tens-of-thousands-in-mortgage-distress-crowe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/seancrowe.ie\/home\/bill-huge-disappointment-to-tens-of-thousands-in-mortgage-distress-crowe\/","title":{"rendered":"Bill  Huge Disappointment to Tens of Thousands in Mortgage Distress: Crowe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;\"><strong>Bill\u00a0 Huge\u00a0Disappointment\u00a0to Tens of Thousands in Mortgage Distress: Crowe<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Speaking following this week\u2019s Oireachtas debate on the Personal Insolvency Bill, Tallaght based Sinn F\u00e9in TD Se\u00e1n Crowe said that while the legislation was long overdue,\u00a0 he said it didnt go far enough and\u00a0will be a huge\u00a0disappointment to the tens of\u00a0thousands of families currently in mortgage distress.\u201c<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Crowe\u00a0said  that\u00a0\u00a0the legislation\u00a0will \u00a0a bitter disappointment\u00a0 for\u00a0many of  families that are in mortgage distress, the Bill\u00a0gives the banks\u00a0  complete power in relation to personal insolvency arrangements. <br \/> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Deputy Crowe said: <\/p>\n<p> \u201cWhen the\u00a0outline \u00a0of the Bill was published we said that it was essential that the proposed Insolvency Service be independent\u00a0 and that a more humane approach to\u00a0 individuals in bankruptcy was needed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> \u201cIt\u00a0will be a\u00a0\u00a0bitter disappointment to the tens of thousands  of\u00a0families that are in mortgage distress, that\u00a0the Bill provides for  the banks having complete power in relation to personal insolvency arrangements. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"> \u201cSinn F\u00e9in submitted a number of amendments and\u00a0had called for an Independent Agency empowered to enforce legally binding settlements on debtor and creditor.
