Sinn F\u00e9in TD for Dublin South West Se\u00e1n Crowe has reiterated his support for school secretaries in their pursuit for equal treatment with their school colleagues.
Teachta Crowe said that it was disappointing that it took the threat of strike action for the government to take these workers seriously having refused to deal with the issue for years.
Teachta Crowe said:
\u201cSchool secretaries have fought for decades for pay equality, fair treatment, and pension entitlements.
\u201cI commend the school secretaries and their representatives in the F\u00d3RSA Trade Union for their dedication to this campaign and the ballot for strike action.
\u201cIt is a pity that it took the threat of strike action for the government to take this matter seriously.
\u201cThere is still work to be done to secure full equality for school secretaries and Sinn F\u00e9in will continue to stand with the secretaries and support them as they continue their campaign in pursuit of pension entitlements and full equalisation of sick pay.
\u201cSchool secretaries and caretakers deserve justice and they deserve full equality. Until that is achieved, the campaign continues and Sinn F\u00e9in will continue to stand with and lend support to our secretaries and caretakers.\u201d
