{"id":483,"date":"2012-08-27T07:33:01","date_gmt":"2012-08-27T07:33:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/seancrowe.ie\/home\/e-book-company-must-fulfil-school-orders-before-start-of-new-term-deputy-crowe\/"},"modified":"2012-08-27T07:33:01","modified_gmt":"2012-08-27T07:33:01","slug":"e-book-company-must-fulfil-school-orders-before-start-of-new-term-deputy-crowe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/seancrowe.ie\/home\/e-book-company-must-fulfil-school-orders-before-start-of-new-term-deputy-crowe\/","title":{"rendered":"E-book company must fulfil school orders before start of new term \u2013 Deputy Crowe"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"line-height: normal; font-style: normal; font-size: 18.6667px; background-color: transparent; margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; font-weight: bold;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">E-book company must fulfil school orders before start of new term \u2013 Deputy Crowe<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; line-height: normal;\"><span><\/p>\n<p> <\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; line-height: normal;\"><span>Sinn F\u00e9in Education Spokesperson Se\u00e1n Crowe has said he is concerned at reports from the Consumers&#8217; Association of Ireland who have been inundated with complaints in the past week from concerned parents who have ordered school books from the online retailer <a href=\"http:\/\/schoolbooks.ie\" target=\"_blank\">schoolbooks.ie<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p> Deputy Crowe said: \u201cA significant number of parents are saying they have still to receive the school books they ordered online and they are also experiencing trouble when attempting to contact the company. <\/p>\n<p> \u201cEarlier this week it was reported that <a href=\"http:\/\/schoolbooks.ie\" target=\"_blank\">schoolbooks.ie<\/a> claimed to have employed extra staff in order to ensure all orders would be met by next Tuesday yet there is still uncertainty that they will meet this commitment. <\/p>\n<p> \u201cTheir failure to respond to their customers queries just days before the new<\/span><span> school is about to commence is placing additional pressure on parents\u00a0who face the added pressure of finding the money pay for uniforms and other back to school items.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; line-height: normal;\"><span> <\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; line-height: normal;\"><span>\u201cThey now need to provide the public with assurances that the delay in fulfilling orders will be rectified and that any logistical or supply problems are being dealt with.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; line-height: normal;\"><span><br \/> \u201cIt is wrong that parents have been left in the dark as to whether their child will have the required books when starting school next week and Education Minister Ruair\u00ed Quinn must look into what is happening and make a statement on the matter.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; line-height: normal;\"><span> <\/span><\/div>\n<div>Story from today\u2019s Irish Times<\/div>\n<div> The remaining customers waiting for orders from online retailer <a href=\"http:\/\/schoolbooks.ie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Schoolbooks.ie<\/a>will get their books by Tuesday, the company said yesterday. It said it had reduced its backlog of orders from 5,000 to 1,300. These would be sent to its delivery partners by tomorrow, to arrive at homes on Monday or Tuesday.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>With schools due to return next week, the company was under pressure to get orders out.
