Government Health\u00a0 a shambles-Crowe<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Dublin South West TD Se\u00e1n Crowe has\u00a0said that the longer waiting lists, the deepening\u00a0 financial and\u00a0political crisis in Health\u00a0combined with\u00a0a dysfunctional relationship between Minister of State for Health R\u00f3is\u00edn Shortall and Minister for Health Dr. James Reilly\u00a0 highlights\u00a0\u00a0the\u00a0 rudderless shambles that\u00a0increased numbers of\u00a0sick people\u00a0have to deal with on a daily basis.<\/span><\/p>\n

Junior\u00a0Minister\u00a0\u00a0Shortall refused to verbally back the Minister of Health during\u00a0a no confidence motion in the D\u00e1il this week.<\/span><\/p>\n

Deputy Se\u00e1n\u00a0Crowe said:
<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt is clear for everyone to see that a working relationship between Ministers Reilly and Shortall\u00a0has broken down and\u00a0become a\u00a0 rudderless shambles that increased numbers of\u00a0sick people have to deal with on a daily basis. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMinister Shortall refused to publically back Minister Reilly in the D\u00e1il, and now it has emerged that the Reilly didn\u2019t\u00a0 exactly use a transparent and objective criteria when choosing the location of the 35 primary health centres to be established around the country,particularly the 2 add ons \u00a0for his own constinuency.\u00a0\u00a0It has\u00a0also emerged that\u00a0Reilly signed off the decision rather than Minister of State for Primary Care\u00a0 Shortall.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe establishment of Primary Health Care Centres is the future of the health service and these centres must be located in the areas were the communities needs are the highest. Fettercairn in my own constituency is currntly without a Doctor based in\u00a0an area, that covers about 7500 people.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c The break down in the Reilly-Shortall relationships is\u00a0contributing to delay the building of these\u00a0Care\u00a0Centres which were promised years by successive governments. This break down in the effective running of the Health service\u00a0at a political level\u00a0, is ensuring that this Government is failing\u00a0even at\u00a0 the most basic level in delivering a\u00a0health service fit for the 21st Century.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Labour and Fine Gael TDs\u00a0 had a chance to end this mess on Wednesday with the vote of no confidence in Minister Reilly. Meanwhile while Ministers differ patients and their families are suffering the fallout from their fractious relationship.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
