{"id":540,"date":"2012-10-15T09:04:52","date_gmt":"2012-10-15T09:04:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/seancrowe.ie\/home\/long-time-wait-for-real-time-technology\/"},"modified":"2012-10-15T09:04:52","modified_gmt":"2012-10-15T09:04:52","slug":"long-time-wait-for-real-time-technology","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/seancrowe.ie\/home\/long-time-wait-for-real-time-technology\/","title":{"rendered":"Long time wait for Real Time Technology"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"> <\/span><\/div>\n<div>Dublin  South West representative Se\u00e1n Crowe TD has described a six month delay  in getting real time technology connected as simply crazy.The  real time technology along the 27 bus route from Jobstown in Tallaght is  still awaiting connection from the ESB six months after being  installed.<\/div>\n<div>Deputy Se\u00e1n Crowe said:<\/div>\n<div>&#8220;It  is simply crazy to think that almost six months after the installation  of real time technology that is supposed to help inform commuters of the  time  when buses are due to arrive, people using the 27 bus still have  to rely on guess work.<\/div>\n<div>&#8220;The issue has beeen raised at  Dublin Bus Forum meetings by community representatives but no one seems  to have any answers or a reasonable excuse, why a simple electrical  connection is taking so long.<\/div>\n<div>&#8220;Minister of State for Public  and Commuter Transport Alan Kelly claims that the new technology forms  part of government policy for the better integration of transport system  and providing more user friendly and accurate travel information is  supposedly a key element of that policy.<\/div>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The long delay in getting a simple connection  would suggest to most people that there is clear  a breakdown of that  policy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There are also some poles where the actual\u00a0information units have not been  erected like the one at the busy\u00a0bus stop\u00a0outside Super Valu at the  Square.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Evidence woud suggest that Minister Kelly&#8217;s policy rollout  is off  track and seems to have lost a wheel somewhere along the way.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The technology being used along the Jobstown bus route is called  smart, intellegent and real time.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It appears in this case it is neither.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Attached is photograph of Se\u00e1n Crowe TD and Councillor M\u00e1ire Devine at a bus stop on the Blessington Road.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/stories\/real time crop.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dublin South West representative Se\u00e1n Crowe TD has described a six month delay in getting real time technology connected as simply crazy.The real time technology along the 27 bus route from Jobstown in Tallaght is still awaiting connection from the ESB six months after being installed.
