He was speaking\u00a0in response \u00a0a D\u00e1il debate on the Report of  the Pyrite Panel.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Crowe said\u00a0that \u00a0the families who bought houses and  appartments off developers and speculators\u00a0who went on to \u00a0make millions  and and millions   were\u00a0 being treated as fools by a system that is  trying desperately to pass the buck and the\u00a0blame.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Deputy Se\u00e1n Crowe said:<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>If  you\u00a0do an internet\u00a0search on\u00a0pyrite you will see\u00a0because of  the\u00a0mineral&#8217;s metallic luster and pale brass-yellow\u00a0colour have earned  it the nickname\u00a0fools gold.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Many of the families who bought houses and appartments  off developers and speculators who made millions and\u00a0and millions\u00a0were  also\u00a0treated as fools.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The authorities and the  construction industry\u00a0system is trying desperately to blame everyone but  themselves, as they pass the buck\u00a0and the\u00a0blame.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Families\u00a0cant live in their\u00a0homes because they are not  safe, they are being pursued by the same\u00a0banks, who they as \u00a0taxpayers  bailed out and the local authorities who were responsible  for\u00a0planning\u00a0and regulation are\u00a0using\u00a0lenghty court procedures\u00a0to  absolve themselves of any responsability.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The\u00a0\u00a0speculators and developers seem immunane to prosecutuion and are now\u00a0reinventing themselves under different company names.<\/div>\n<div>\u201cThere still\u00a0remains no mandatory testing of quarries for\u00a0pyrite potential.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>So we needed no report to tell us that quarries should  be testing for a substance which could cause a house\u2019s foundations to  expand and the damage that would to do to the entire structure.<\/div>\n<div> \u201cWe \u00a0still have houses tearing apart from the inside because of\u00a0failures  to regulate the constrution industry and their\u00a0greed and the pursuit of  gold is still evident today in the proliferation of the black economy.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>At no point on the chain of supply were any sufficient  checks made to see if the material being used for the foundations of  these houses and appartments\u00a0were suitable.<\/div>\n<div>\u201cAt no point  did any regulation require those in the quarry, the concrete suppliers  or the construction company doing the work, to ascertain the quality of  their materials and that substances like pyrite were not present.<\/div>\n<div>\u201c: The state has failed thousands of\u00a0families and\u00a0has done nothing\u00a0the \u00a0so far\u00a0to resolve this crisis.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>.
