{"id":550,"date":"2012-10-23T13:43:52","date_gmt":"2012-10-23T13:43:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/seancrowe.ie\/home\/fire-brigade-recruit-decision-doesnt-make-sense\/"},"modified":"2012-10-23T13:43:52","modified_gmt":"2012-10-23T13:43:52","slug":"fire-brigade-recruit-decision-doesnt-make-sense","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/seancrowe.ie\/home\/fire-brigade-recruit-decision-doesnt-make-sense\/","title":{"rendered":"Fire Brigade Recruit Decision Doesn&#8217;t Make Sense"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fire Brigade Recruit Decision Doesn&#8217;t Make Sense<\/p>\n<div>Sinn F\u00e9in Dublin  South West TD Se\u00e1n Crowe has supported \u00a0calls for \u00a0Dublin  City Council to look again at its decision to begin a costly recruitment  drive to fill the 28 vacancies for the Dublin Fire Brigade.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Deputy Crowe believes that the Council should recruit  from the Dublin Fire Brigade a recruits Panel which was disbanded  earlier this year.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Deputy Se\u00e1n Crowe said:<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cI welcome the decision of Dublin City Council \u00a0and Dublin Fire Brigade  \u00a0to fill 53 of the \u00a080 vacancies in the fire brigade service. It  is also good news that agreement has at last been reached on filling  the bulk of the existing vacancies and that potentially this will save  substantial amounts of money in overtime.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cIt doesn&#8217;t make any sense to me \u00a0that Dublin City  Council is now going to begin a costly external recruitment drive to  recruit \u00a028 \u00a0fire fighters when it has already spent \u20ac300,000 on putting  together a panel of suitable candidates for the Fire Brigade. \u00a0The new  recruit\u2019s panel was disbanded earlier this year and many of those who  won a place on it are \u00a0ready, willing to work, and most importantly  \u00a0qualified for the vacancies that are now available.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cDublin City Council needs to think again about their  his plan for a new recruitment drive and instead fill the vacancies from  the former recruits panel. \u00a0 This would speed up the process,fill the  vacancies quicker and possibly save hundreds of thousands of euros that  could be better spent on front line services\u201d<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fire Brigade Recruit Decision Doesn&#8217;t Make Sense Sinn F\u00e9in Dublin South West TD Se\u00e1n Crowe has supported \u00a0calls for \u00a0Dublin City Council to look again at its decision to begin a costly recruitment drive to fill the 28 vacancies for the Dublin Fire Brigade.
