{"id":559,"date":"2012-11-08T14:42:42","date_gmt":"2012-11-08T14:42:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/seancrowe.ie\/home\/national-childrens-hospital-decision-adds-to-tallaght-uncertainty-crowe\/"},"modified":"2012-11-08T14:42:42","modified_gmt":"2012-11-08T14:42:42","slug":"national-childrens-hospital-decision-adds-to-tallaght-uncertainty-crowe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/seancrowe.ie\/home\/national-childrens-hospital-decision-adds-to-tallaght-uncertainty-crowe\/","title":{"rendered":"National Children&#8217;s Hospital decision adds to Tallaght uncertainty- Crowe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: large;\"><strong>National Children&#8217;s Hospital decision adds to Tallaght uncertainty \u2013 Crowe<\/strong><\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">Dublin South West TD, Se\u00e1n Crowe, has said the government\u2019s decision to locate the National Children&#8217;s Hospital at St James\u2019 Hospital is a major set-back for Tallaght and has left huge uncertainty around the future of Tallaght and Our Lady&#8217;s Hospital in Crumlin.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">Crowe, who is a member of the Tallaght Hospital Action Group, said there is a complete lack of any transparency in the St. James\u2019 decision and that other applicants were at a loss as to why their preferred sites had been overlooked when it came to the actual location for the purpose built new hospital.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"im\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">Deputy Se\u00e1n Crowe said;<\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">\u201cThe decision to locate the new National Children&#8217;s Hospital at St. James\u2019 Hospital will be a major set-back to Tallaght and Our Lady&#8217;s Children\u2019s Hospital in Crumlin. <\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">\u201cThe location at Tallaght Hospital seems to have been dismissed out of hand at a very early stage and for no obvious reason.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">\u201cIt seemed to me that Tallaght Hospital fulfilled all the terms of reference for the so called Dolphin review for the new Children&#8217;s Hospital. These included; accessibility, cost and value for money, availability of land, future expansion prospects, a short time frame for construction and no obvious future planning difficulties.<\/span> <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">\u201cThe lack of any transparency surrounding the actual decision raises huge questions about the process and how a decision was finally arrived at by Minister Reilly and his Cabinet colleagues.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"im\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">\u201cThere is now huge uncertainty around Tallaght Hospital. Will the proposed Ambulatory Centre that was supposed to be based in Tallaght now go ahead? <\/span> <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">\u201cAdditionally, the proposed move of Coombe Maternity Hospital to Tallaght is in doubt as confirmed to me today by the minister.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">\u201cThere is also huge uncertainty around Our Lady\u2019s Hospital in Crumlin.
