{"id":612,"date":"2013-02-25T10:07:50","date_gmt":"2013-02-25T10:07:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/seancrowe.ie\/home\/pay-hike-for-hse-bosses-while-workers-face-massive-cuts\/"},"modified":"2013-02-25T10:07:50","modified_gmt":"2013-02-25T10:07:50","slug":"pay-hike-for-hse-bosses-while-workers-face-massive-cuts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/seancrowe.ie\/home\/pay-hike-for-hse-bosses-while-workers-face-massive-cuts\/","title":{"rendered":"Pay Hike for HSE bosses while workers face massive cuts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong>Pay Hike for HSE bosses while workers face massive cuts<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Dublin  South West representative Se\u00e1n Crowe TD has described a proposed pay  rise for the HSE Chief Executive and for new chiefs of forthcoming  \u2018hospital groups\u2019 as scandalous.and comes at a time when\u00a0workers are  being asked to work longer hours, for less pay and \u00a0to cut sunday  overtime allowances.<\/p>\n<div>Crowe\u00a0said that his party will oppose this pay \u00a0increase in the D\u00e1il and in\u00a0every forum where\u00a0they have\u00a0a voice.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Deputy Se\u00e1n Crowe said<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Workers  and their representatives are currently being asked to agree to\u00a0work  longer hours, take another\u00a0substantial cut in their basic pay and  overtime allowances and now\u00a0this proposal is\u00a0jettisoned into the mix.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cHealth Minister James Reilly\u00a0has a brass neck but  surely even he and his well paid advisors\u00a0couldn&#8217;t stand over this  latest\u00a0proposal.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>&#8221;\u00a0The Minister for Health\u00a0has\u00a0to  \u00a0rule out any suggestion of a \u00a0pay increase for the HSE Chief Executive  who already has a salary of nearly \u20ac200,000 per annum. The leaked  proposal from the Department of Health for an upward review of this  already excessive salary is nothing short of scandalous. And to add  insult to injury the Department is also proposing bonus payments for the  bosses of the \u2018hospital groups\u2019 which are to be announced by Minister  Reilly next week.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Frontline workers are to take all the cuts and the pain  that goes with\u00a0it but senior management are to rewarded with increases.  Its unbelievable and a grotesque way to run any organisation  particularly one where you are\u00a0so reliant on the good will of staff to  deliver a first class service.<\/div>\n<p>\u201cUnless he states otherwise we can only presume that Minister Reilly has signed off on these pay hike proposals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDespite  all that has happened in our economy and society, including the  perilous state of our public health services, there is still an elite at  the top which is determined to reward itself because they believe  \u2018we&#8217;re worth it\u2019. Under no circumstances should this latest gravy train  be allowed to leave the station.
