{"id":616,"date":"2013-03-07T15:39:18","date_gmt":"2013-03-07T15:39:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/seancrowe.ie\/home\/crowe-gets-childhood-development-initiative-update\/"},"modified":"2013-03-07T15:39:18","modified_gmt":"2013-03-07T15:39:18","slug":"crowe-gets-childhood-development-initiative-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/seancrowe.ie\/home\/crowe-gets-childhood-development-initiative-update\/","title":{"rendered":"Crowe gets Childhood Development Initiative update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: sans-serif; font-size: small;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Crowe gets Childhood Development Initiative update<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: sans-serif; font-size: small;\">Dublin South West Sinn F\u00e9in TD, Se\u00e1n Crowe, recently met Marian Quinn, the CEO of Tallaght West Child Development Initiative (CDI) in Leinster House, to learn of the research and evaluation findings on the health, literacy, and education programmes for children which they have developed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: sans-serif; font-size: small;\">Crowe met the Chief Executive Officer with his Sinn F\u00e9in colleagues Caoimhgh\u00edn \u00d3 Caol\u00e1in TD and Sandra McLellan TD<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: sans-serif; font-size: small;\">Deputy Se\u00e1n Crowe said:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: sans-serif; font-size: small;\">\u201cI would like to thank CDI for coming in to brief us on the ground breaking work that the Tallaght West Childhood Development Initiative (CDI) actually do.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: sans-serif; font-size: small;\">\u201cCDI supports the delivery of a range of early intervention and prevention programmes which aim to improve outcomes for children who come from disadvantaged backgrounds. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: sans-serif; font-size: small;\">\u201cIn 2003 they began developing a strategy to improve the health, safety and learning of the children of Tallaght West, as well as to increase these children\u2019s sense of belonging to their community, and since 2007 they have been implementing 8 different programmes to achieve these aims.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: sans-serif; font-size: small;\">\u201cA lot of CDI\u2019s work includes innovative and important research, which is providing educational and youth specialists, as well as politicians, with specialised data which will allow them to better design educational programmes that will improve the educational standard for children right across the state. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: sans-serif; font-size: small;\">\u201cEarly intervention and prevention programmes have been shown to have a hugely positive affect on children, particularly those in disadvantaged areas. I have been supportive of the work of the CDI and I will continue to support their work Tallaght West. Thankfully there is also cross party support for their important work. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: sans-serif; font-size: small;\">\u201cThis important work needs to be nurtured and financially supported.
