Dublin South West Sinn F\u00e9in TD, Se\u00e1n Crowe, has welcomed the announcement that Pfizer will invest $100 million in their Grange Castle site in South County Dublin to increase its manufacturing capacity.<\/p>\n
Preparation is underway to allow construction to commence with approximately 140 construction jobs over the next year with a peak of 250 jobs. The facility will is likely to be operational in 2015.<\/p>\n
Deputy Se\u00e1n Crowe said:<\/p>\n
\u201cPfizer\u2019s announcement that it will invest $100 million in their Grange Castle site is very welcome for the local area and will be a boost for the local economy in South County Dublin.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe investment will also create up to 250 construction jobs, which will be a shot in the arm for the construction industry that has been devastated by the recession.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur on-going high unemployment rate, and especially youth unemployment, shows how badly Ireland needs jobs.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe government has a duty to stimulate economic growth and create employment. Securing investments like this are welcome, but they also need to ensure that our stagnant domestic economic is rejuvenated.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a good news story for the area and it has come about by the foresight of South Dublin County Council, the IDA, and other agencies, which help facilitate the creation of sites like the one in Grange Castle.\u201d<\/p>\n
