Sinn F\u00e9in TD Se\u00e1n Crowe has called on Comreg to ensure that companies are not allowed to enforce paperless billing systems on unwilling customers.<\/p>\n
Deputy Crowe said;<\/p>\n
\u201cI am aware of some companies trying to force their customers into a paperless billing system.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile I would welcome a move towards more environmentally friendly billing systems a paperless system is a step too far for some customers.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere has to be allowances made for people who don\u2019t use computers and those who have no access to the internet.<\/p>\n
\u201cMany people, particularly the elderly, do not use computers and depend on their paper bill to keep on top of their accounts.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt would be wrong for companies to move to completely paperless systems and I am calling on Comreg to do all in its power to ensure that companies cannot enforce this type of system on unwilling customers.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
