Central Bank decision on Anglo Tapes Unbelievable says Crowe<\/p>\n
Dublin South West representative Se\u00e1n Crowe TD said the decision by the Central Bank not to refer any further information to the Garda\u00ed or Director of Corporate Enforcement as unbelievable and in his humble opinion goes against the public interest.<\/p>\n
Deputy Se\u00e1n Crowe said:<\/p>\n
\u201cEarlier this year Irish public opinion was shocked by the nature and nonchalant\u00a0 tone of the Anglo recordings. Only a small number of these tapes were released to the public through media outlets but their effect was electric. Clearly the public expected some actions to come of the scandal and for further reports to be sent to the Garda\u00ed and Director of Corporate Enforcement.<\/p>\n
\u201cSinn F\u00e9in will be challenging this decision by Governor Honohan at\u00a0 the D\u00e1il Finance Committee and asking why the Central Bank has chosen not to send any further reports to the authorities. The Central Bank has known about these tapes since 2009 but for some reason beyond my understanding doesn\u2019t see any significance in their content.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe public expected to see some form of action taken after the release of the Anglo tapes. It seems the Central Bank have decided to let the storm blow over and do zilch. This is an unbelievable and an unacceptable approach, that is clearly not in the public interest. There seems to be no logical or rational reason why these reports could not have been filed and forwarded to the Garda Authorities and the Director of Corporate Enforcement.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
