Crowe\u00a0said that\u00a0the misuse and distribution  of illegal fireworks\u00a0 was rife in the Tallaght and its hinterland\u00a0\u00a0The  Garda in attendence at the Forum\u00a0\u00a0said that many of \u00a0the fireworks were  lethal concotions and caused countless serious injuries including the  loss of eyesight, fingers and severe burns\u00a0every year.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Se\u00e1n Crowe\u00a0said:<\/p>\n<p>I welcome the assurances from the Garda  Authorities at the Dublin Bus\/ LUAS Community Forum this week,\u00a0 that  they will be prioritising the recovery of illegal fireworks in the run  up to the celebration of Halloween.<\/p>\n<p>Bus and LUAS \u00a0representatives outlined the difficulties of running a  gauntlet of these fireworks and the obvious\u00a0inherent risks involved.<\/p>\n<p>Too  many people including\u00a0children \u00a0are seriously injured every year from  these fireworks, with some maimed for life, including the loss  of\u00a0eyesight, their fingers and \u00a0suffering third degree burns.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA lot of positive work has been\u00a0carried out\u00a0over the last number of  years to deal with the issue of selling illegal\u00a0fireworks and the  recession seems so far, \u00a0to be reducing amount of fireworks  actually\u00a0going off in many\u00a0estates this year.<\/p>\n<p>The Garda response to these lethal\u00a0fireworks\u00a0and\u00a0have not even the  most minimum \u00a0safety measures taken \u00a0into account in their design.<\/p>\n<p>This is\u00a0 not a killjoy approach to Halloween festivities,\u00a0but\u00a0 the right thing to do.<\/p>\n<p>The fireworks and bangers\u00a0terrifey animals,damage property,disturb  sleep \u00a0and can distract drivers and cause countless\u00a0accidents every  year.<\/p>\n<p>Those making a profit from selling these items,\u00a0\u00a0have a\u00a0total disregard for the community and \u00a0should cease immediately.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cParents need to be extremely vigilant that their children are not  handling or let near \u00a0these fireworks, both for their own safety and the  safety of others in the community<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe community\u00a0need to\u00a0send a  clear signal to those that sell illegal fireworks, it is not acceptable  and that any\u00a0information on selling them\u00a0will be responded to by  the\u00a0Garda Authorities..\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Illegal fireworks-\u00a0removal a priority \u00a0 Dublin South West representative Se\u00e1n Crowe\u00a0has welcomed assurances from the Garda Authorities\u00a0at a meeting of\u00a0the local Dublin \u00a0Bus\/LUAS Community Forum,\u00a0that they will be prioritising the recovery of illegal fireworks in the run up to Halloween.
