{"id":794,"date":"2013-07-11T15:40:49","date_gmt":"2013-07-11T15:40:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/seancrowe.ie\/home\/?p=794"},"modified":"2013-10-29T07:31:30","modified_gmt":"2013-10-29T07:31:30","slug":"crowe-expresses-his-sadness-at-the-passing-of-bernie-dwyer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/seancrowe.ie\/home\/crowe-expresses-his-sadness-at-the-passing-of-bernie-dwyer\/","title":{"rendered":"Crowe expresses his sadness at the passing of Bernie Dwyer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sinn F\u00e9in&#8217;s Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs, Trade and Diaspora, Se\u00e1n Crowe TD, has expressed his sadness at the passing of Bernie Dwyer.<\/p>\n<p>Bernie, an Irish citizen, was a long-time journalist for Radio Habana Cuba and advocate for the Cuban Five.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Crowe said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is with deep regret and sadness that I have learnt that Bernie Dwyer has passed away after a long and brave fight against cancer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBernie was a journalist and filmmaker well known for her advocacy work on behalf of the Cuban Five. She was a regular contributor to Radio Habana Cuba and created the influential documentary, <i>The Day Diplomacy Died<\/i>, which investigate the case of the Cuban Five.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven though she was seriously ill in recent times she bravely continued her important work.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBernie was a true internationalist and will be sadly missed by all that knew her in Ireland, Cuba, and across the world.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would like to extend my deepest sympathy and condolences to Bernie\u2019s family, friends, and comrades.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>ENDS<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sinn F\u00e9in&#8217;s Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs, Trade and Diaspora, Se\u00e1n Crowe TD, has expressed his sadness at the passing of Bernie Dwyer.
