Crowe holds embassy briefing in Leinster House

Sinn Féin’s Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs, Trade and Diaspora, Seán Crowe TD, held a briefing for foreign Ambassadors and Embassy staff based in Ireland today. The briefing was delivered by Deputy Crowe, Conor Murphy MP (Newry/Armagh), and the party’s economic advisor Joanne Spain.

The briefing took place in Leinster House and was attended by Ambassadors and representatives from 22 Embassies, the EU Commission, and the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR).

Speaking after the briefing Deputy Crowe said:

“I would like to thank all those who attended this briefing and took time out of their busy schedules to learn more about Sinn Féin’s policies.

“The briefing allowed Sinn Féin to explain our policies to diplomats from across Europe and the World. We also held a question and answer session which proved to be a very useful exchange of views.

“It is increasingly important that Sinn Féin articulates its policies to foreign dignitaries in Ireland. The Government continues to implement savage austerity cuts and Sinn Féin is speaking with a loud and clear voice that austerity is not the way to solve Ireland’s economic crisis.

“The economy was discussed at length, but Conor Murphy MP and I also detailed Sinn Féin’s position on the Constitutional Convention, the upcoming Children’s Referendum, outstanding issues from the Good Friday Agreement and legacy issues, policing and prisoners in the north, Ireland’s Presidency of the EU in 2013, and the decade of centenaries.

“Sinn Féin will continue to positively engage with the Embassies based in Ireland, particularly during Ireland’s Presidency of the EU in 2013.”
