Sinn Féin Councillor Sean Crowe has commended the Dublin Fire Brigade on their swift response to the fire which broke out at Tallaght Hospital on Tuesday morning, 27 July. Seven units of the Fire Brigade were called to the scene and managed to contain and bring the fire under control.
Councillor Crowe is urging the hospital to now review its fire safety plan to assess if improvements could be made in light of yesterday’s experience.
Speaking today Cllr Crowe said:
“I would like to commend the Dublin Fire Brigade for their swift and professional response to the fire in Tallaght Hospital this week. The speed and effectiveness of their response undoubtedly saved lives.
“It is clear that the Hospital had in place an effective fire plan. A small number of people were injured. I wish them a speedy recovery.
“This weeks events also provide Tallaght Hospital with an opportunity to strengthen their fire safety further.
“I will be in touch with Hospital Management in the coming days to ensure that patients who had their appointments cancelled will be rescheduled as soon as is possible”
