Sinn Féin’s spokesperson on Foreign Affairs, Seán Crowe TD, has wished the huge amount of Irish fans heading to France to watch Ireland play in Euro 2016 all the best.
Crowe also asked them to familiarise themselves with the Department of Foreign Affairs’ travel advice and information.
Deputy Seán Crowe said:
“Tens of thousands of loyal Irish fans will be leaving in the coming days to support Ireland in Euro 2016 in France.
“I want to wish them a safe trip and I’m hoping the Boys in Green will give them plenty of goals and victories to celebrate.
“The Department of Foreign Affairs has some very practical and important information and travel advice on their website- www.dfa.ie/euro2016. I would encourage every fan to familiarise themselves with this information before they go and to carry a photocopy of their passport and useful phone numbers.
“The Department of Foreign Affairs has a Citizen Registration facility which all fans should sign up to, so that the Department can contact you in the unlikely case of an emergency.
“If you need emergency help while in France the emergency helpline number is 112. For consular assistance from the Irish Embassy in Paris, a dedicated phone line went live on Friday 10 June and it is +33144176780.
“Department officials have also told me that Irish consular officials will be present on the ground in Paris, Bordeaux and Lille around the match dates to provide advice and consular services directly to Irish citizens in any difficulty.
“The most important thing is to be prepared, be safe, enjoy the craic, and remember green definitely is this year’s colour”.
