Sinn Féin TD, and member of the Joint Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement, Seán Crowe, today attended the commemoration for the 41st Anniversary of the Dublin and Monaghan Bombings.

Deputy Crowe said:

“I want to commend Justice for the Forgotten for all the work they have  carried out and the vital support they give to the victims and families of the Dublin and Monaghan bombings.

“We know that the Dublin and Monaghan bombings  were carried out by loyalists with logistical and technical support from British security personnel.

The no warning bombs resulted in the highest amount of deaths and casualities in the conflict and yet no one has been brought to justice.

“As the years have passed the work and  the investigations by a handful of journalists continued to uncover  strong evidence of collusion between those who carried out the attacks and the British security services.

“The British Government maintains its public position of denial and continues to refuses to release any files or information they have on these brutal bombings.

“On this the 41st Anniversary of the death and carnage that visited Dublin and Monaghan, I again call on the British Government to release these files and to assist the familes in ensuring that justice is pursued and delivered.

“Next week I will again be raising this issue with the Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs in the Dáil and calling on the  Government to place the upmost pressure on the new British Administration to release their  files on Dublin and Monaghan.”
