Crowe expresses his sadness and regret at the passing of Hugo Chávez
Sinn Féin Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs, Trade and Diaspora, Seán Crowe TD, has expressed his sadness and regret at the news that Hugo Chávez, the President of Venezuela, has died aged 58 after a two year battle with cancer.
Deputy Crowe said:
“I am very saddened to hear the news that Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez has passed away after a brave fight with cancer.
“He was an inspiration for the resurgent Latin American left and will be fondly remembered by many socialists and oppressed people worldwide.
“He served his people with pride and was a true leader who dedicated his life to fighting poverty and inequality.
“My thoughts are with his family, friends, and comrades.
“May he rest in peace.”
