Israel’s collective punishment of Palestinian people must end – Seán Crowe TD

Sinn Féin’s spokesperson on Foreign Affairs, Seán Crowe TD, has today expressed his regret at the killing of three Israeli settlers, but has called on Israel to stop its indiscriminate bombing and attacks on the Palestinian people, which amount to collective punishment.

Deputy Crowe said:

“It was with deep regret that I heard that the three missing Israeli settlers were found dead in the occupied West Bank yesterday.

“The abduction and killing of these teenagers was a tragic event and I condemn this action and those behind it.

“This particular case graphically highlights why we urgently need an inclusive peace process so that no more Israeli or Palestinian families have to grieve the loss of their loved ones.

“Since the teenagers went missing more than 400 Palestinians have been arrested, including 23 Palestinian MPs, thousands of homes have been raided, and six people have been killed by Israeli gunfire. The Israeli air force has also carried out air strikes on the blockaded Gaza.

“Israel’s military actions are collective punishment of the Palestinian people and will do nothing to advance a negotiations or a lasting peace process in the region.”
