Dublin South West Sinn Féin TD Seán Crowe has welcomed news this evening that there will be no second Jobstown trial and that all charges are to be dropped.

Deputy Crowe said the conviction of a fifteen year old boy in the non-jury Children’s Court should now be overturned.

Speaking this evening he said;

“This is a common sense decision on the part of the DPP.  It is very clear that there was no chance of any convictions following the collapse of the first trial.

“This whole situation has been a waste of taxpayers’ money and a demonisation of a section of the community that I represent so I welcome this evening’s news.

“It is now very clear that the conviction of a fifteen year old boy, the only conviction to arise from this situation, must be overturned and I will continue to campaign for that.”
