In the wake of last night’s violence, Sinn Féin TD for Dublin South West Seán Crowe has today called for an end to pitched battles between youths in the Tallaght area.
Deputy Crowe’s comments came in the wake of continued violence over a number of nights between youths from Killinardan and Jobstown on Sunday evening.
Deputy Crowe claimed:
“It is vital that all the relevant authorities work in conjunction with local communities to find a way to prevent future incidents before there is a tragedy.
“It is also high time that the root cause of last night’s outbreak be identified as this continued disorder is terrifying local residents and will end in serious injury to some of those involved.
“It is clear that stretched Garda resources are having a negative effect on communities in the Tallaght area. Residents are crying out for a more overt presence of uniformed Gardaí on the beat in their neighbourhoods.
Seán Crowe concluded:
“These type of incidents impact negatively on Garda resources, terrify residents and create a bad image of an area where so much positive work is quietly going on.”
