Dublin South West TD, Seán Crowe, has raised issues surrounding the upcoming all-party talks on the North with the Minister for Foreign Affairs in the Dáil today.

Deputy Crowe, who is also a member of the Committee for the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement, called for the talks to take place in an atmosphere free from preconditions and threats.

Deputy Crowe said:

“I welcome that Minister Flanagan has announced that the Irish and British Governments are to convene all-party talks to resolve the issues facing the political process in the North.

“Today I called on Minister Flanagan to urgently convene these talks and ensure that they take place in an atmosphere free from preconditions and threats. The history of the peace process and previous agreements tells us that this is best practise.

“Sinn Féin is ready for talks. We will enter them to resolve outstanding issues and will, as always, abide by any agreements made. We will continue to lived up to all our commitments and to promote reconciliation, inclusion and equality.”
