Sinn Féin TD for Dublin South West Seán Crowe has extended his solidarity and heartfelt appreciation to the women who are an integral part of the Henry Reeve Brigade, a Cuban group of medical professionals who work around the globe in the best spirit of international medical solidarity, on International Women’s Day

Teachta Crowe said:

“For more than 15 years, the Henry Reeve Brigade has been travelling to areas of need around the world helping those who lack basic medical supports following weather outrages and disasters. They have been first to join frontline supports following hurricanes, earthquakes, and the challenges facing the West African Ebola epidemic.

“Their sacrifice and determination to go and save lives after the deadliest disasters and viral outbreaks is truly inspiring.

“The Henry Reeve International Medical Brigade has also been to forefront in the global fightback against COVID19, sending medical personnel to Europe, Africa and other struggling nations across the globe.

“60% of the volunteers in the Brigade are women and I would like to take the opportunity afforded by international Women’s Day to take them for their commitment and humanitarian efforts.

“My party Sinn Féin were proud to be one of the many organisations that supported their nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize.

“Their sense of solidarity and selfless sacrifice is an inspiration in these dark and difficult days.

“I want to thank you, extend my solidarity my best wishes and heartfelt thanks on this day that we remember and commemorate the role of women locally, nationally and internationally.”
