Sinn Féin TD for Dublin South West Seán Crowe has called for a new driving test centre for south Dublin in the Dáil today in response to the more than ten thousand people waiting on a test in the Tallaght testing centre.

Teachta Crowe said:

“The inability of people to access a driving test in South Dublin is one that I have been raising for many years.

“There is a waiting list of over ten thousand for the Tallaght testing centre, the highest in the country. This represents 12% of the state-wide waiting list. Dún Laoghaire/ Deansgrange has the third highest waiting list with over five thousand waiting.

“Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan said in June 2021 that the backlog could be cleared within four months as we exited Covid restrictions. It is evident that this has not happened.

“Given that south Dublin’s two test centres are in the top three of waiting times, I have called on this Government to commit to examining the feasibility of an additional test centre to relieve the pressure on Tallaght in particular and allow people to access driving tests without waiting for months and months.”
