Sinn Féin TD for Dublin South West Seán Crowe has welcomed the announcement by the Minister for Health Stephen that an agreement has been reached on the availability of Kaftrio, a drug for people suffering with a specific mutation of the cystic fibrosis gene.

Teachta Crowe:

“I want to warmly welcome the announcement that Kaftrio will be made available to the 35 children who will benefit hugely from this life changing drug.

“This is a drug for people suffering with a specific mutation of the cystic fibrosis gene. There were other children already receiving it in Ireland and it is only right that all children who need it are able to access it.

“This is something that the Oireachtas Health Committee has been in regular contact with the HSE about and I am glad that the families of these 35 children have received the good news they’ve fought so hard to hear.”
