Crowe raises case of IBRC workers in the Dáil

Dublin South West Sinn Féin TD, Seán Crowe, raised the case of the IBRC workers during a Sinn Féin PMB motion on jobs creation and worker rights.

Deputy Crowe said:

“Employers and the state need to respect the rights of workers. We have seen the government criticise employers, like Vita Cortex, for the growing trend of leaving workers in the cold after being made redundant, but we have recently seen the government act the same with the IBRC workers.

“800 IBRC workers were made unemployed with the stroke of a pen after legislation was rushed through the Dáil.

“The agreed redundancy package for the IBRC workers was torn up when this legislation was forced through the Dáil, and they are now only receiving statutory redundancy payments.

“The employment opportunities for these workers are quite low and the government must not cast them aside, but step up to the plate and ensure these workers entitlements are paid in full.”
