Crowe raises Greyhound bin collection service at Oireachtas meeting

Sinn Féin TD Seán Crowe has received numerous complaints from householders who believe the poor level of customer care provided by private waste management company Greyhound is frustrating customers many from getting their bins collected.  Deputy Crowe raised the issue at the monthly Oireachtas meeting in South Dublin County Council.

He continued: “My office has received numerous complaints from constituents whose bins have not been collected by the Greyhound waste management company. This is resulting in household rubbish being left uncollected for weeks at a time and the current service is unacceptable.

“Many residents have reported serious problems with the service and the company has used a range of excuses, including difficulties with the tagging system, to justify why they have failed to lift a bin.

“As a public representative I have found their level of customer care non-existent. I have tried to contact the company on a number of occasions on behalf of my constituents and have been given the run around. My inquiries have been passed from one person to the next and have gotten nowhere. No member of management is ever available and a range of excuses are used to explain their refusal to cooperate.

“Greyhound’s claim that it had not missed collections is disingenuous and does not reflect the reality of the situation. Confusion over bin collections has created chaos in South Dublin with bins of uncollected rubbish creating a potential health hazard. I now understand a similar situation has arisen in the Dublin City Council area and it is an issue that must be addressed immediately as householders should have the means to safely dispose of their rubbish.”
