Dublin South West Sinn Féin TD, Seán Crowe, has expressed concern that the HSE cuts to ambulance services in Tallaght and its hinterland, are impacting on the provision of services locally and effectively gambling with peoples’ lives.

Deputy Crowe said:

“On both Monday the 12th and Tuesday the 13th of August, the Health Service Executive left Tallaght without ambulance cover for a 12 hour period, except for a single Dublin Fire Brigade ambulance.

“The area”, Deputy Crowe said, “was covered with a lone responder in a car operating out of James Street.

“This doesn’t garner much confidence in how the system would be able to respond to a major incident in this locality.

“I am extremely concerned by this new HSE policy of cutting services, which are literally gambling with safety and peoples’ lives.”
