Sinn Féin TD for Dublin South West Seán Crowe has welcomed confirmation that the additional new driving test centre for south Dublin is now to be situated in Sandyford, but cautioned that we must see a drastic reduction in waiting times for tests in weeks, not months.
The confirmation came in correspondence from the Road Safety Authority to Sinn Féin Transport spokesperson Pa Daly TD after a meeting of the Oireachtas Transport Committee.
Teachta Crowe said:
“I have received confirmation that the new additional driving test centre for south Dublin is to be situated in Sandyford. It is crucial now that there is no delay in getting this centre open and testing underway.
“We cannot afford months of blustering bureaucracy that is so typical of this government. The 19,000 people waiting in Tallaght need to see a dramatic reduction in waiting times in a matter of weeks.
“I have long called for this additional testing centre and I welcome its nearing fruition but at the end of the day, results are what matter to those hard-pressed learner drivers that are stuck waiting right now.”
