New Parking Restrictions Will Lead to Job Losses

Dublin South West representative Seán Crowe TD has said that the new parking restrictions being placed in Whitestown Industrial Estate are anti business, not requested and may lose jobs. Crowe was speaking after meeting local businesses in the area.

Deputy Seán Crowe said:

“I met with some business owners in the former IDA Business park in Whitestown Industrial Estate this morning and many of them are incensed at this latest parking restriction development.

“They are angry as there was no apparent contact or consultation with businesses and more importantly no demand for these restrictive parking measures.

“Many of people I met this morning believe that this will impact negatively and put extra presssure on the business environment and may actually lead to job losses.

“These latest parking restrictions are one of many in the area and it is getting impossible find any free and safe parking in the locality for workers and visitors.

“Only recently McConnells the Fish Suppliers who were based in Whitestown closed their doors with badly needed jobs lost.

“It just doesn’t stack up what South Dublin County Council are doing in Whitestown Industial Estate and this is at a time when resources and finances were never so scarce.

“I am calling on South Dublin County Council to use a bit of commonsense and immediately halt thIs madness. We should be lifting restrictions for businesses not putting them in and making it more to difficult to operate. It doesn’t help motorists, workers, visitors or local businesses and may actually lead to the actual loss of jobs in the long run.”
